Welcome Trixie, the official club mascot

The cat named Trixie by the players, became the official club mascot and travelled in style in its own wicker basket to all Cardiff's away games. Trixie and all the luck she had brought in such a short space was the centre of much attention, as the realisation of a second Cup Final appearance became reality. Luck also played a pivotal part in those trying to obtain a ticket for the final, out of 300, 000 who applied only 91,000 were successful, but in the age of the wireless, a broadcasting first was about to take place. In homes throughout the city, supporters could follow the game via a plan of the pitch divided up into numbered squares printed in the magazine. The phrase 'back to square one' meaning 'back to the beginning' is said to have originated from this first ever broadcast of an F.A.Cup Final.

As Fred Keenor and his men started to prepare themselves for the match, they couldn't help but feel comfortable in their new North London surroundings. It looked as if Cardiff, if not the whole of Wales had decamped to Wembley for the day. The sovereign was obviously in attendance and it was proving an eventful couple of days for King George V.

Two days earlier, he had opened the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff and here he was being introduced by the Captain of the City's football team who, in just under a couple of hours would create history for the Welsh club.
